SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is about optimizing content on the internet to be found and ranked highly by search engines such as Google, Bing or Yahoo. It is located in the borderland between marketing and website maintenance and therefore often falls between the cracks.

SEO mainly consists of two parts:

1. On-page SEO
On-page is also divided into Content, which is something you can see and read, as well as Technical SEO, which is about technical aspects such as how fast a page is or that elements (headlines, images, movies, etc.) have been marked correctly in the code.

2. Off-page SEO in principle is equated with backlinks (links from other sites) but also contains conversations in social media. Regarding Off-page SEO, it is good to know that not all links are good! There are links that do not provide any help at all, it is determined by the website that the link is on with a so-called “nofollow” (nowadays there is also “sponsored” and “ugc” ) or “follow” tag. If the page has given your link, a section of the page that your link is on (eg comment field) or the entire page “nofollow” then the search engines will not count these links at all. If the link is from a site that the search engines consider spammy (bad), it is also a disadvantage instead of an advantage. This is because many people try to cheat with links by buying them or through barter, which is not how it is intended. They should be a signal that what they are linking to is actually valuable content.
