E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. It's Google's framework for assessing content quality and is central to their Search Quality Rater Guidelines.

Why is E-E-A-T important?

Google uses E-E-A-T signals to determine which pages deserve to rank highly. It's especially important for YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) pages affecting health, finances, or safety.

The four components

  • Experience: Does the content creator have first-hand experience with the topic?
  • Expertise: Does the author have relevant knowledge and skills?
  • Authoritativeness: Are the site and author recognized authorities?
  • Trustworthiness: Is the content and website reliable and transparent?
